{Emily. Me. Sara. Jessica. Alyson. Kim. Heather}
So...i just had the time of my life with these 6 amazing girls in NYC!
For Labor day weekend we had planned a girls trip. So we loaded our mini van & were off...8.5 hours later made it to our destination. It's amazing how quickly the time flew by just chatting, munching, & laughing. I will never forget the moment we arrived into the city at midnight. We were so excited and played our theme song!
We stayed at Kim's brothers house in Queens. They were kind to open their home to us while they were away. It was tight..which makes it even more memorable. :) We got very close.
That next morning we woke bright & early..anxious to see the sites of the city.
If you look closely..you can see the Statue of Liberty behind us.
We did a whole lot of shopping..which was so fun! Emily & I had a great time trying on the flashy attire. This sequin number below cost like $400! Who would buy that?
Heather & Alyson were our navigators. Thank you to the iphone..
Sara & I were the only first-timers. Time Square was so awesome..especially at night.
We got some delicious pizza for dinner and ate it on the bleachers..and people watched of couse. There are a lot of strange people out there.
The streets are just how I imagined..jam packed with people & honking taxis.
One night we were laughing..following the crowd and not really paying attention. I'm not gonna lie, we almost got hit by a taxi. {Sorry Josh for being so wreckless!} Ok maybe we weren't that close, but it sure felt like it when out of no where he was right next to us. Probably pretty upset too.
So the #1 thing I wanted to do was see a Broadway show. We waited in line that morning but when we got to the front & they said the cheapest ticket they could sell us was for $67..we were bummed. Later that evening, Emily & I ran to check at the front of the theater..just to see what they had. Lucky for us they were selling tickets for $35..and we all got to sit together. It was fate..i'm sure of it! The worker probably thought we were ridiculous! We couldn't contain our excitement. Emily even said to him..and I quote, "My heart is racing right now!"
We saw Mary Poppins! And it sure was a jolly holiday with Mary. The play was amazing to say the least. It was like a magic show. I probably had a smile on my face the whole time! I even got the chills a few times. All the songs brought happy feelings from my childhood. Some of my highlights were the tap dancing chimney sweepers, "Let's go fly a Kite"..and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious".
( You bet I had to look it up..I was close though).
That night..we got off at the wrong bus stop and this guy that was watching us got off last minute, or so it seemed. Once we noticed there weren't many people around & this guy was following us {We named him "Stripy" because he was wearing stripes.} we slightly panicked. We took off running..at one point someone screamed & someone else lost their shoe. A group of sissy mormon girls running the streets of New York at night..that's probably a site to see. It took us a little while to get home. It's always harder to find your way at night. We were feeling a little uneasy.
That next morning we went to Sacrament Meeting in Manhattan. It felt strange to take the busy subway to church. It was a fast & testimony meeting, so it was a good day to be there. One man told his touching conversion story. The spirit was so strong. I sure do love the church. It is true! :)
We then headed to Central Park for a picnic. It felt like the perfect Sunday activity. Plus it was like 70 degrees so it made it even better.
Work it!
Central Park was awesome. I had no idea it was so humongous!
Next on the agenda..FAO Schwartz.
{I just love that my eyes are closed..awesome.}
Got to play on the giant piano..and even see the professional piano dancers.
So this was another highlight...
We ate at this cute little restaurant, Cafe Lalo. It was on the movie, You've Got Mail. You know, the scene where Shop girl is waiting for him with the rose. I watched the movie a couple of days before (it was my homework). So it made it fun cause I could picture it all perfectly.
Earlier..on the subway somehow we got on the topic of Disney princesses. We debated who would be which princess. We took everything into account..personality & looks. I had no idea these girls were so passionate about their princesses..yes you Alyson!
Apparently my princess chose me..because I happened to be wearing her colors. Yes I got "Snow Freakin' White". Really who wants to be Snow White? She's not that cute & her voice is annoyingly high. :)
So when we went to the biggest Toys-R-Us ever..we got the genius idea to do a photo shoot with our princesses. :) Poor Jessica..there was no Jazmine for her.
It was so much fun to stay out as late as we wanted..the latest was 10:00 pm cause we were so exhausted by the end of the day, but hey we could have stayed out later if we wanted to.
Dirty feet after walking a million miles.
Our last day..we shopped, wandered & ate at the shake shack.
We blasted the tunes on the way home.
It was so fun..belting it out to Celine Dion, Britney Spears and all the older songs we haven't heard in awhile.
This trip almost feels like a dream. It was awesome. I am so glad I went and with these fun girls! We all came home with nicknames: Bibs, ice queen, safety, flow, pumpage, sunoco, and Anna. Let's just say there were a lot of good laughs. It's been a while since i've laughed so hard that my stomach hurt!
2015..can't wait for our next trip girls.
I was excited to come home to these little munchkins. I got them silly bands..and according to Teegan they make him run faster, jump higher, and punch monsters harder.
That was the best $1 I ever spent.

I was so thinking we were all going to use it! my bad! Oh and lastly how did you change your blog font- was it super hard?!
Looks like you and your girls had such a great time. What a fun getaway!! Never been to NYC, but may have to add it to our travel list after seeing your blog!
Looks like you had so much fun Brittany! You are lucky to have so many close friends! Your family is adorable....I can't believe those curls on Camdyn!
OH MY! I am jealous. That looks like the funnest trip ever. Ironically 'Maid in Manhatten' was on today, so that was crazy when I saw the title of your post.
Glad you had a fun time. I have to admit I am jealous of your roadtrip with girls. Yesterday I was blasting Britney Spears while I was alone in the car driving to Walmart. I was thinking about how I miss riding around with girl friends singing and dancing. It's been awhile. Well, except Baylor likes to dance in the car... but that isn't quite the same. (It's cuter, but not the same.)
Anyways, I'm glad your having so much fun!! I miss you! Love you,
Ashley :)
p.s. I like how your kids are in on that silly band trend. That is cute!
New York is the best! I'm so jealous that you got to go with a bunch of your friends, that's so fun! I've been twice. The best one was our family trip because we got to see Wicked. LOVE that musical! Oh and we almost got mauled over by a taxi a couple times so I know how you feel! Glad you had fun! IT's such a blast!
Wow! What fun!!! You guys will never forget it :) I can't believe you got into Mary Poppins for #35. I'm not even going to tell how much I spent on each of my little kids just to see the Lion King! Thanks for sharing this, I'm sure there are many that wish they could've joined you :) p.s. Thanks for the laughs the other night :)
You lucky dog! What a fun trip!! I love New York! And I'm so glad you were able to get to go to a play - the best part! It made me miss my single days a little - being footloose and fancy free! And Josh, huge kuddos to you for hanging with the kiddos. I bet they loved having so much daddy time.
Can I just say that this looks like the funnest trip ever, and I am completely jealous! But I am so glad that you were able to go and have some fun with the girls...you definitely deserve it! And you can't pass up going to New York! But promise me that one day Me,you, mom,Lex,and Bry can go somwhere really really fun!
