The weekend before school started, we went and had one last summer hoorah!
Normally I like to have time to come home and recover from a getaway..but school started the next day. It was the weekend that worked out the best. I really had to make sure I was on top of things.
We met up with our friends, the Seegmiller family, from dental school (They also just bought a dental practice a couple of hours away) at South Padre Island. It was a 6 hour drive. The coast is 4 hours from us, but everyone said it was worth the extra couple of hours because it's a better beach.
And a road trip wouldn't be exciting without some car troubles! Something minor..but we had to make a stop at the auto parts store. I'm glad Josh is a handy man. Here we are waiting on him before we could get back on the road...
Teegan has a serious love for fried chicken! He belongs in the south!
And this was Max's last visit to the ocean..beloved Virginia Beach. He wasn't really a fan.

It took him a bit to warm up to the waves.
The kids loved boogie boarding and catching little sea creatures.
Dad the merman! He's a good sport. Sand in the face and all.
This is Max's heaven on earth. He loves sand..he especially wanted the hot dry sand!
All that mess requires a good rinse off in the waves. He liked it.

It was awesome having a babysitter with us. Their oldest daughter, Sariah is 13. It made Josh and I look forward to the future when we can just sneak out of the house without making arrangements. ;)
So the adults went out to dinner. The restaurant was next to this cute light house.
When we weren't swimming at the ocean, we were swimming at the pool. That's just how it's got to be in Texas!
On our last full day we went on a dolphin tour. The kids loved that the captain had his dog aboard.
It was fun and relaxing and we saw our fair share of dolphins. The kids really had their dolphin call down!
They met and fed a turtle at the aquarium.
On our way home.. It's much more fun to switch kids around.
We are so grateful to have these friends of ours close! Our families mesh so well together. Our kids adore them. We all decided that they would just be considered our cousins. It just feels that way! We are adopting them as family since ours are far away.
