Well Josh had his last spring break..as a student. Darn! We knew the day would come.
We took advantage of the time off and the warm weather and went on a couple of outings. One of the days we went to D.C. just me, Josh, and Max. Teegan still had school and we really wanted to go to the Holocaust Museum without scarring them for life. So we did a swap..our friends babysat for us all day, then we took our turn. It worked out wonderfully.
It was nice to do some non-kid friendly things that we hadn't done before. We toured the Capitol building and also looked around the Library of Congress. We even got to see the Gutenburg Bible. Both of the buildings were gorgeous..with all the little details. We also met up with our friends, the Hutchisons, who just happened to be there that day too, for lunch at We the Pizza.
We then made our way over to the Holocaust museum, only to find out tickets for the day were sold out. Apparently you have to get some in the morning to guarantee your spot. We had no idea and we were totally disappointed. This was on our bucket list! I really thought we would return home as changed people from this experience. Oh well, maybe we'll get another chance someday. Regardless, we still had a great day in the city.
In one of the rooms of the Capitol building, they have statues representing each state. There was a statue of Brigham Young for Utah.

What a fun get away! It's good you are taking advantage of all the wonderful things there are to do and see back there. Max is just a cutie!
Max looks so big next to you. I am glad you got to take a trip up there without all of the kids. The library was surprising inside wasn't it. So light and colorful.
Looks like a fun day! Makes me still want to go see some of those things. Not having kids for a day was seriously awesome, let us know if you ever want to do that again, lol.
